Who We Are

ABOUT US

Mission Statement:  Longview First Church of the Nazarene exists to glorify God by being and making disciples who walk as Jesus walked.

Vision Statement:  We dream of being a church of lay led, small groups that connect and care for one another while conforming each other to Christ.

WE BELIEVE:

1. In one Creator, God, who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

2. That the Bible is the inspired and relevant Word of God.

3. That all people have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

4. That an individual must repent and trust Christ to receive God's grace and eternal life.

5. That Christ died on the cross for everyone. Anyone who responds in repentance, God will forgive their sins and create a new heart of love.

6. That the forgiven should surrender their whole lives to God resulting in His Spirit molding them into Christ-likeness.

7. That God's Spirit gives an assurance that one is forgiven and surrendered.

8. That Christ is coming again, the dead will be raised, and everyone will face the final judgment.

Core Values Statements:

We value Bible-centered preaching and teaching. We believe that only the Word of God has power to transform us from individuals separated from God by sin to Christ-like persons. Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Corinthians 1:17, 18; 2 Timothy 3:17-18

We value Godly servant leaders. We believe that those who lead in the church should have the mind of Christ who came not to be served but to serve. Matthew 20:28; 2 Peter 3:18

We value intercessory prayer. We believe it is the responsibility and privilege of Christians to pray for others. 1 Timothy 2:1-4; James 5:16

We value committed Christians. We believe the Christian life is a journey that results in increasing Christ-likeness. Matthew 28:20; 2 Peter 3:18

We value people. We believe that all people should be valued because they are created by God and have had redemption provided by Christ. Genesis 1:26; John 3:16

We value tithing and giving. We believe that tithing is the floor of support for the local church and that the blessing of giving exceeds that of receiving. Malachi 3:10; Acts 20:35b

We value missions. We believe we are commissioned to make Christ-like disciples in all nations. Missions is our way of doing this in our own community and in places separated from us by culture, language, and/or geography. Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8

We value guests. We believe that every guest to one of our church events is a gift from God and should be treated accordingly. Matthew 7:12; James 1:17
